We just encountered something interesting last week where we saw 32-bit office 2010 installed on 64-bit windows drops some 64-bit office 2010 assemblies under program files. Haven't quite figured out why yet, other than noticing that they get used when you load an Office document inside of 64-bit IE.

I did have a question for you about authoring a solution that targets office 2007 & office 2010; have you determined a way to be version neutral, or are you specifically laying down registry keys with the office version in the path? (i.e. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\12\User Settings)? I'd like to have to avoid cracking open an MSI just to change a 12 to a 14 (or a 14 to a 15 one day) and was wondering if you found a way.John Watershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07330463112512980414noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985159635193633235.post-37646968470037857272010-09-18T14:58:38.011-07:002010-09-18T14:58:38.011-07:00In this case we are authoring an Outlook AddIn whi...In this case we are authoring an Outlook AddIn which writes to:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\AddIns\AddInName

So we already have version neutrality.Christopher Painterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12167478740431444267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985159635193633235.post-39645637046663337102010-11-09T04:39:28.896-08:002010-11-09T04:39:28.896-08:00For 2007 add-ins, I use the Office HKLM->HKCU r...For 2007 add-ins, I use the Office HKLM->HKCU registry replicator to install for all users. And the good thing is that it also works for Office 2010!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
